Welcome to the home page of the Leicester Ancient Order of Foresters Junior club – aka the Twiglets!
When is Twiglets?
Twiglets is held at the LAOFAC field.
- It runs every Sunday afternoon 1-3pm (until 4pm during the summer) at the field (weather permitting!)
Juniors are welcome to shoot at anytime, not just at a Twiglets session, so long as they are accompanied by a qualified adult archer.
During the indoor season Juniors are also welcome to shoot indoors at Brockington.
For our younger archers Alan has devised some new rounds to allow our Under 10s to shoot full rounds at shorter distances, with handicap and classification tables just like the older children and adults.
How to Earn Badges
To help our junior members get further into Archery and develop their skills Foresters is taking part in the new Archery UK Progress Badge Scheme.
The junior age groups are aligned with 5 educational key stages, with different distances being shot for different age groups.
All classes of Archer [Recurve, Compound, Longbow/Barebow/Fibre Glass Bows etc] are encouraged to take part – with different scores at different distances and on different sized faces required for each discipline and age group to achieve the different badges. For more details on the different rounds and scores needed please see the hyperlinks below.
There will be a Roll of Honour for those archers achieving the Gold badge – COME ON FORESTERS WE WANT TO SEE YOU ALL ON THERE!
The junior shoots will be split into 2 parts.
In the first part archers will shoot rounds aimed towards getting one of the progress badges. The second part of the shoot will be more informal with fun targets.
Best of Luck to everyone.
