This section of the website is where the Foresters get the chance to tell you about the work we do in the wider community.
This Autumn we have been working with students from the DeMontfort University to help them set up an archery club and affiliate with us. We have run some have-a-go sessions for over 50 students, and will be running beginners courses with them over the winter. So don’t be surprised if you start seeing large numbers of enthusiastic new archers on the field next year – I’m sure you will make them all welcome.
Archery Big Weekend
On May Bank Holiday, as part of Archery GBs Big Weekend we opened our field to let members of the public have a go at archery. People had a go at regular target archery and our famous Nobble-a-Norman.
Community Groups and School Fetes.
We supported the Reality Youth Project’s fun day in Countesthorpe, taking Nobble-a-Norman along to their event for the day.
We hosted Leicestershire & Rutland County Archery Association Junior Section Chocolate Shoot and put on a Fun Day for them in the afternoon, letting them (and their parents) have a go at a number of novelty shoots, including Nobble-a-Norman, foam animal shoot, bell tower, William tell (shoot an apple of the head), target balance, etc.
We hosted a Scout Group on our field for a have – a – go archery session, where the scouts (and their leaders) had a short talk on the history of archery, a demonstration of different types of bows and arrows and then after a bit of tuition, took part in a number of novelty shoots, including Nobble-a-Norman, foam animal shoot, clout shoot, and score the most golds.
