Leicester Ancient Order of Foresters Archery Club (LAOFAC or ‘Foresters’) was formed in 1970 and is affiliated to the Grand National Archery Association (GNAS).
We are a Target Archery club with a wide range of members, including a number of Coaches. We actively encourage juniors (age 8 upwards) and disabled members, shooting all types of bows including Recurve, Compound and Long bow.
Club membership currently costs £50.00 for adults and £25.00 for juniors and students in full-time education. There is also a discount of 20% for each additional and subsequent family member.
All Archers also have to be members of a governing body such as GNAS – Adult fees are £44 each and £10 for juniors – disabled members get free membership.
Our outdoor venue, to which we have sole and year round access, is at the junction of Hospital Lane and Leicester Road, Countesthorpe. There is parking space at the field for cars, or alternatively the field is on the route of the number 85 bus , and there is a stop next to the field .
In winter we shoot at Brockington Community College, Enderby on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings – Visting Archers are always welcome and each indoor session costs £3.50 for Adults and £2.50 for Juniors.
Each year we stage a number of open outdoor tournaments. These include an early fun shoot in aid of charity, two record status shoots, and a competition aimed at less experienced archers late in the season. We also hold a two-way Western for longbow archers in June.
