About the Club

Leicester Ancient Order of Foresters Archery Club (LAOFAC or ‘Foresters’) was formed in 1970 and is affiliated to the Grand National Archery Association (GNAS).

We are a Target Archery club with a wide range of members, including a number of Coaches. We actively encourage juniors (age 8 upwards) and disabled members, shooting all types of bows including Recurve, Compound and Long bow.

Club membership currently costs £60.00 for adults and £35.00 for juniors (under 18) and students in full-time education. There is also a discount of 20% for the second and each subsequent family member.

All Archers also have to be members of a governing body such as GNAS for insurance purposes; this can be arranged through the club.

Our outdoor venue, to which we have sole and year round access, is at the junction of Hospital Lane and Leicester Road, Countesthorpe. LE8 5QW. There is parking space at the field for cars, or alternatively the field is on the route of the number 85 bus , and there is a stop next to the field.

In winter we shoot at Brockington Community College, Enderby on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings – Visting Archers are always welcome and each indoor session costs £3.50 for Adults and £2.50 for Juniors.

Each year we stage a number of open outdoor tournaments. These include an early fun shoot in aid of charity, two record status shoots, and a competition aimed at less experienced archers late in the season. We also hold a two-way Western for longbow archers in June.

On the lighter side we hold fun days and have-a-go sessions where we do a variety of regular target and novelty shoots. We also support local schools and community groups, by attending fetes or hosting have-a-go sessions at our field.
